"Aged Date" Excel Formula Field
Calculate Elapsed Days, Elapsed Weeks and Elapsed Months
Calculate "Current-30-60-90+" and "Current-30-60-90-120+" Agings

Now built-in to EZ-Format!

EZ-Calc Created 'Aged Date' Excel Formula Field

Five examples of different automatically created "Aged Date" Excel Formula Fields

  • The following applies to all Aged Date Excel Formula Fields
  • Knowledge of Excel Date Functions, Excel Text Functions and Excel Formulas is not required when creating Aged Date Fields with EZ-Chart, EZ-Pivot and EZ-Stat.
  • Because Date Agings categorize data and reduce the number of data points, Aged Date fields are perfect for the X-axis and Z-axis in Excel Charts and as a column field in Excel PivotTables and Excel PivotCharts
  • Age Dates as of "Today" or as of a "Specific Date"
  • Calculate "To" or "From" the specified Aging Date
    • "From" is used to Age Dates predominently before the Aging Date
      • As in an Accounts Receivable Aging where "Invoice" dates are in the past
    • To" is used to Age Dates predominently after the Aging Date
      • As in an Accounts Payable Aging where "Due" dates should be in the future
  • The calculated Aging Values can be left, center or right justified
  • The new Field Description for the Aged Date Excel Formula field is automatic or user specified
  • Aged Date Fields can be created in non-subtotaled and subtotaled Excel Lists beginning in cell A1
  • The following applies to "Elapsed Number of Days between two Dates"
  • Specify a cut-off maximum number of Elapsed Days to calculate and display
  • Elapsed Days greater than the specified cut-off go into a separate displayed overflow value
  • Automatically append a default Description (Day / Days) onto the Number of Days Values
  • The appended "Description" can be user specified or suppressed
  • The following applies to "Elapsed Number of Weeks between two Dates"
  • Specify a cut-off maximum number of Elapsed Weeks to calculate and display
  • Elapsed Weeks greater than the specified cut-off go into a separate displayed overflow value
  • Round calculated Elapsed Weeks down, up or from the middle
  • Display the fractional number of Elapsed Weeks in 0-4 decimal positions
  • Automatically append a default Description (Week / Weeks) onto the Number of Weeks Values
  • The appended "Description" can be user specified or suppressed
  • The following applies to "Elapsed Number of Months between two Dates"
  • Specify a cut-off maximum number of Elapsed Months to calculate and display
  • Elapsed Months greater than the specified cut-off go into a separate displayed overflow value
  • Round calculated Elapsed Months down, up or from the middle
  • Display the fractional number of Elapsed Months in 0-4 decimal positions
  • Automatically append a default Description (Month / Months) onto the Number of Months Values
  • The appended "Description" can be user specified or suppressed
  • The following applies to the four "Accounting Type" Aged Date Fields
  • "Current, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+" with and without "Days" automatically appended
  • "Current, 31-60, 61-90, 91-120 120+" with and without "Days" automatically appended
  • "Days" is optionally appended onto the appropriate Accounting Type Date Aging Values
  • There is no cut-off maximum for Accounting Type Date Agings
  • The new Excel Formula Field Description can be automatic or user specified
  • Accounting Type Date Aging values sort ascending and descending as shown below:
    • "Future, Current, 31-60, 61-90, 90+" for "From" Date Agings
    • "Past, Current, 31-60, 61-90, 90+" for "To" Date Agings
    • "Future, Current, 31-60, 61-90, 91-120 120+" for "From" Date Agings
    • "Past, Current, 31-60, 61-90, 91-120 120+" for "To" Date Agings

"Reformatted Date" Excel Formula Fields
Extract Calendar Year, Calendar Quarter, Calendar Month, Calendar Week
and Calculate the Date of the Previous Saturday, Sunday or Monday
for Excel Date Fields in non-totaled and subtotaled Excel List Data

Now built-in to EZ-Format!

EZ-Calc Created 'Reformatted Date' Excel Formula Field

Examples of the 12 different automatically created "Reformatted Date" Excel Formula Fields
  • Automatically create Excel Formulas to extract or calculate any of the following twelve practical date related items of information from Excel Date Fields:
    • Calendar Year
    • Calendar Month - leading zero filled
    • Calendar Quarter
    • Calendar Year and Calendar Month
    • Calendar Year and Calendar Quarter
    • Calendar Week of the Year - leading zero filled
    • Calendar Year and Calendar Week of the Year
    • Calendar Year, Calendar Quarter and Calendar Week of the Year
    • Calendar Year, Calendar Month and Calendar Week of the Year
    • Calendar Date of the previous Saturday Date (for categorizing dates by weeks beginning on Saturdays date)
    • Calendar Date of the previous Sunday Date (for categorizing dates by weeks beginning on Sundays date)
    • Calendar Date of the previous Monday Date (for categorizing dates by weeks beginning on Mondays date)

  • Create a Reformatted Date in 5 clicks.
  • Create Reformatted Date Fields in non-subtotaled and subtotaled Excel Lists beginning in cell A1.
  • All Calendar Month and Calendar Week of the Year Excel Formula fields are leading zero filled to allow proper sorting.
  • Because they categorize data and reduce the number of data points, Reformatted-Date fields are perfect for the X-axis and Z-axis in Excel Charts and the column field in Excel PivotTables and Excel PivotCharts.
  • Use Reformatted Date Fields for creating Charts with EZ-Chart and creating PivotTables with EZ-Pivot.
  • Unlike Excel, when creating Charts EZ-Chart automatically summaries only the visible detail data for you.
When using only Excel you must manually summarize the data before you can create a chart.
  • When creating PivotTables EZ-Pivot uses only the visible detail data in both non-subtotaled and subtotaled Excel Lists.
This differs from Excel which only creates PivotTables from non-subtotaled data and which always includes both visible and hidden data.
EZ-Pivot created PivotTables, PivotCharts and Drill Worksheets are completely formatted for you.
Excel only created PivotTables, PivotCharts and Drill Worksheets are minimally formatted and require extensive manual formatting work.
  • Knowledge of Excel Date Functions and Excel Formulas is not required when creating Reformatted Date Fields for use with EZ-Chart and EZ-Pivot.

User Defined "Excel Formula" Field
Create simple and complex Excel formulas

Now built-in to EZ-Format!

EZ-Calc Created 'Excel Formula' Field
  • In subtotaled Excel Lists EZ-Calc applies Excel formulas to only data rows, skipping subtotal rows.
  • The User Guide contains tips for creating generalized formulas that reference data in the previous row or the following row.  The recommended formula syntax can be sorted without creating Excel errors.
  • In EZ-Format subtotaled worksheets, subtotals can be added to any field in 2 clicks.
  • As an alternative to using the Excel SUBTOTAL function, EZ-Format can create subtotals for an Excel formula field using the identical formula as used for the data. This allows meaningful subtotal values for Percent and Average calculated fields. There is also formula protection against Excel divide by zero errors.
  • Knowledge of Excel Functions and Excel Formula Fields is required, however EZ-Calc automatically pastes the specified Excel Formula to all data cells in the new Excel Formula field.

"Conditional Negative" Excel Formula Field
Change Positives to Negatives based on Values in another field
Changing numeric signs allows accurate Totals, Subtotals and Formulas

Now built-in to EZ-Format!

EZ-Calc Created 'Conditional Negative' Excel Formula Field
  • Creates a new Excel Formula field and changes positive values in the selected numeric field to negative values in the new Excel Formula field based on a test of the contents of a specified "Test" field.
  • In the above example when the data value in the "Trans Code" field is "Credit Memo" or "Return", the Sales Amount is made negative in the new Excel Formula field.
  • Testing can be case sensitive or insensitive.
  • For testing purposes only, the Test Field and Test Values can be trimmed of leading, trailing and multiple embedded spaces.
  • One or multiple "Test" values are specified as part of the process of creating the "Conditional Negative" Excel Formula Field.
  • Rather than specifying the "Test" values for negative numbers, the Test Values for positive numbers can be specified and all other values in the "Test" field will result in the numeric values being converted from positives to negatives.
  • The "Conditional Negative" Excel Formula field is very useful for working with extracted data from a data base where some numbers in a numeric field are incorrectly stored as positive numbers rather than as negative numbers, and where the values in another field within the extracted data can be used to determine which numeric values should actually be negative.
  • Knowledge of Excel Functions and Excel Formula Fields is not required.

  • Fiscal Information for Calendar Dates is maintained in an Excel workbook included with EZ-Calc.
  • The Fiscal Calendar Workbook is extensible and accommodates any fiscal calendar and fiscal values.
  • Each calendar date or range of dates supports multiple values of user-defined fiscal information.
