Activating a License using an Activation Code
Activation Codes are used to Register Add-ins when Licenses have been purchased using links outside of the Add-ins or outside of the purchase links available on the DPPI web site. Activation Codes cannot be purchased directly from within the add-ins or directly from links available on the DPPI web site. If you purchased an "Add-in" using the "Purchase" option from within an Add-in or using a link on the DPPI web site, then you did not purchase "Activation Codes" and you immediately received the License Holder (an email address) and Purchase Reference Number(s). Unless you purchased using a link specifically sent to you via an email from DPPI or via a Purchase Order sent to DPPI, you did not purchase Activation Codes and should use the "Re-install Existing License" option on the second Softwrap form shown below. Use the "Re-install Existing License" option when you received a License Holder Name and Purchase Reference Number(s) at the time you purchased directly from within the Add-in or by using a link on the DPPI web site. If you purchased directly from within the Add-in or by using a link on the DPPI web site the add-in should automatically Self-Register on the machine from which the purchase was made and you should not have to use the "Re-install Existing License" option.
Ensure you are connected to the Internet as registering using an "Activation Code" requires an Internet connection. Activation is designed to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7 and above. Java must be installed and enabled. Activation may not work with other Browsers.
To register using an Activation Code, launch Excel with the correct EZ add-in already installed.
If necessary, use the "Downloads" menu on any DPPI web page to download and install the latest version. A new or updated version of an add-in can be installed directly over an existing installation without first completely uninstalling the older version. Excel 2007 / Excel 2010 users may be prompted to uninstall the add-in's Ribbon before installing an updated version over an existing installation. Excel 2007 / Excel 2010 Ribbons are uninstalled through the "Control Panel" using "Add and Remove Software" in Windows XP, and "Programs and Features" or "Uninstall a program" in Windows Vista and Windows 7. The name of the DPPI add-in for Excel appears in the list of installed software.
Select "Activate / Re-Register" on the add-in's "Menu" either on the add-in's Toolbar in Excel 2000, XP and 2003 or on the add-in's Ribbon in Excel 2007 and Excel 2010.
When the "Status" at the bottom of the EZ Menu displays as "Registered", clicking "Activate / Re-Register" or "Self-Register" displays the following message box.
If not already "Registered", select "Activate New Installation" on the Softwrap screen.
"Activate New Installation" is used for both "Activating a New License" using an Activation Code and "Re-installing an Existing License" using the License Holder (an email address) and Purchase Reference Number.
If the above Softwrap screen does not display, or if you receive a message in-lieu-of the Softwrap screen, then there is software or settings on your machine that is preventing access to the Softwrap authentication server via the Internet. This would typically be a firewall. If this problem persists, contact support@datapresentation.com describing this problem. Support can provide an alternative method of activating the software over the Internet directly from within your Browser rather than indirectly through Excel.
The Softwrap screen shown below displays after clicking "Activate New Installation".
Select the "Activate New License" radio button and enter your Activation Code.
Enter your First Name, Last Name, Email Address and Address into the fields provided.
If necessary, scroll down and click "Next" to "Activate" the software.
At the completion of "Activation" the License Holder (the entered email address) and an automatically generated Purchase Reference Number are emailed to the address provided.
This information is used to re-install the existing license should this become necessary.
This information also enables DPPI and Softwrap to offer licensing support when required.
A confirmation screen displays the License Holder (the entered email address) and the Purchase Reference Number automatically created for the Activation Code.
Print this information in case you do not receive an email with the identical information.
Save the License Holder and Purchase Reference Number for future use should you need to re-install the add-in on a new system or on a re-built system.
After successful Activation use the License Holder and Purchase Reference Number to "Re-Install an Existing License" as an "Activation Code" can only be used once.
The License Holder is the email address entered at the time of Activation, and the Purchase Reference Number is automatically generated and displayed at the time of Activation.
When "Activation" is successful, the "Status" at the bottom of the add-in's Menu on both the Toolbar and the Ribbon displays "Registered" rather than "Trial" or "Expired". 1. Exiting and restarting Excel refreshes the Status if it does not change to "Registered". After restarting Excel open the add-in's Menu to view the updated Status. 2. Executing "About" on the add-in's menu forces an update of the Status. After executing "About", reopen the add-in's Menu to view the updated Status. 3. Executing "Self-Register" on the add-in's menu forces an update of the Status. After executing "Self-Register", reopen the add-in's Menu to view the updated Status.
If "Activation" is not successful, it could be because of the following:
1) Your Activation Code has already been used - contact support@datapresentation.com with your details and a request for your code to be validated. Please be sure you provide the full name of your product. Activation codes can only be used once and are specific to an add-in.
2) The version of the add-in you are attempting to activate does not match the Activation Code. Go to www.datapresentation.com to download and install the latest version of the add-in. If you are still unable to Activate the software using the latest version of the correct Excel add-in, contact support@datapresentation.com and they will assist you.
3) You are behind a firewall which is not allowing access to the authentication server - ensure ports 80, 443, 9000 & 9001 are available and also ensure that an Internet connection from your software is permitted. You must be able to access the Internet. If you cannot open the first Softwrap screen shown above and / or you receive a message when trying to do so, email support@datapresentation.com describing the problem. Support can provide an alternative method of activating the software over the Internet directly from within your Browser rather than indirectly through Excel.
